Accredited by ANSI, we are one of few organizations accredited to certify to CanadaGAP, a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-benchmarked food safety program. The standard covers:
- Production – Field and greenhouse activities, including harvest
- Packing – Putting harvested produce into final packaging materials
- Storage – Before and after packing, for standalone storage facilities
- Repacking, wholesale and brokerage
CanadaGAP consists of food safety standards and a certification system for the safe production, storage, and packing of fresh fruits and vegetables including repacking, wholesale and brokerage. To become certified, participants must comply with food safety program requirements that were developed by the horticultural industry and reviewed for technical accuracy and validity by Canadian government officials. The operation must also undergo and successfully complete on-site audits.
Thousands of producers, packers, repackers, wholesalers, and storage facilities have been certified to CanadaGAP since the program launched in 2008. Today, CanadaGAP has become the leading GFSIbenchmarked produce certification for Canadian companies.
At NSF, CanadaGAP certification services are provided by NSF Canada Agricultural Certification Company. To view a current list of companies that have been CanadaGAP-certified by NSF Canada Agricultural Certification Company (NSF Canada Ag), please click here.
