La Prop&nbsp;65 a \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9e en 1986 sous le nom de Safe Drinking Water and Enforcement Act afin de r\u00e9pondre aux pr\u00e9occupations des consommateurs concernant l\u2019exposition aux produits chimiques toxiques. La Prop&nbsp;65 exige que l\u2019\u00c9tat de Californie publie une liste de produits chimiques (maintenant plus de 900) qui peuvent causer le cancer, des anomalies cong\u00e9nitales ou des probl\u00e8mes de reproduction.
